SPECIAL NEEDS

AIR TERMINAL:

The air terminal has been designed with particular attention towards people with special needs (disabled, ill, injured or elderly people), in order to allow them to enjoy all the airport services.

The functional model of the travellers flow is organized on two separate levels, the upper floor being the departures area and the lower level the arrivals area. The internal vertical connections are guaranteed by elevators, all equipped with acoustic security sound devices.

In the departures hall the passengers turn in their baggage at the check-in desks, by placing them on a small platform. The hall is a wide, airy and bright area and the floors are not slippery.

The arrivals hall is wide and comfortable. This is where the infirmary can be found with medical personnel 24 hours a day.

In the baggage claim area the baggage transport belts are equipped with a security device, and enable an easy baggage recovery.

The commercial areas are well-sized and next to one another in order to help to minimize displacements. There are handicapped restrooms in the airport. They are located in different points on the departures and arrivals floor, and in the service/restaurant area.

Furthermore, a touch-sensitive route for visually disabled users is available at both arrival and departure passenger areas (plus surrounding external areas) of the airport, as well as the tunnel linking the airport terminals to the railway station.

The route and accompanying touch-sensitive map guarantees visually disabled users full access to information desk facilities, ticket desk, check-in area, the courtesy room and bathroom facilities.

Turin airport is equipped with multistorey car park, located right in front of the air terminal. The park house is directly joined to both the departures and the arrivals area by a covered passage way that is only 35 meters long. There are no structural barriers. The sidewalks are easily accessible thanks to ramps. The access into the airport is also very easy: there are 8 large entrance doors, 20 meters apart from each other.

Each is equipped with a security device

TRANSPORT SERVICE FOR DISABLED:

The Rotary Club of Torino Dora, SAGAT Turin Airport (the company responsible for the management of Torino Caselle Airport), the Council for Disadvantaged Persons and the company San Marco-Rolfi have reached an agreement for the launch of a transport service for disabled persons to and from the airport and city of Turin for a unified charge.

It is currently possible for municipalities within the city limits to take advantage of the service whereas the extension of the service to other municipalities within the Province of Turin is in its final development stages.

The service is provided by means of a Citroën Jumper vehicle equipped to transport three disabled persons in wheelchairs and four disabled persons able to walk, with the assistance of specially-trained voluntary personnel from the association of the Council for Disadvantaged Persons.

The vehicle is located outside the airport building (Arrivals level, just in front the First Aid office) in a specially-reserved area easily accessible to disabled users.

Disabled passengers wishing to use the new service should call +39.011.0015320, the number provided by “Rete 119”, an integrated service aimed at disadvantaged citizens in Turin and the greater Turin area.

The number can be called Mondays to Fridays between 9 am and 3 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. During the Paralympic Games, the service will be active daily from 8 am to 6 pm.

To facilitate the organisation of the service, passengers are kindly requested to contact the call centre at least 24 hours in advance in order to guarantee the required transportation.

PARKING & ACCESS:

In the covered multistorey car park, which is equipped with 6 elevators and own restrooms, 38 free of charge parking spaces are reserved for the disabled (2° floor).

Cars must display the required permit.

In addition to these, 8 places are reserved for disabled (4 at Arrivals and 4 at Departures level) as vehicles may stop in curbside when loading or unloading only.

COURTESY CORNER:

The departures hall is equipped with the "Sala Amica" (Courtesy Corner) which is 23 square meters where airport personnel will assist special needs people in all boarding and disembarking operations. The room is also provided with a service phone and a flights display.

The assistant will escort them rapidly to the airplane, making sure that the passenger's personal wheel chair is boarded for last, so that it can be the first to be unloaded at the arrival.

An ambulance transporting a passenger in need of a stretcher can be provided, if necessary.

TO AIRPLANES:

SAGAT, the management company of the Turin airport, has been the first in Italy to adopt, since the 80's, means of transport for the disabled, ill or injured persons.

These are vehicles purposely designed by a specialized company, equipped with a closed cabin which is possible to lower to ground level and to raise up to the 5.5 meters of a Jumbo door, in order to provide an easy access for stretchers and wheelchairs.

CALL POINT & NOTES:

CALL POINTS

These buttons can be pressed to alert an assistant, who will help the person with special needs. The assistant will escort the person to check-in and to the boarding gate.

To take advantage of this assistance it is necessary to arrive at least 75 minutes before the flight departure. The "Call Points" are located in the following areas of the airport: near the handicapped parking spaces, in the multilevel car park near the main entrance doors (on both the arrival and departure levels); finally, near the "Courtesy Corner".

ELECTRICIAN

Turin airport has an electrician on hand at the time of boarding. He can help to set or remove particular wheel chair batteries and to load them in the hold.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Passengers who have special needs or requirements (disable, ill, injured) should inform at the time of booking travel agency or the airline they are travelling with.

Every airline has its own regulations on assistance.

Please ask the travel agent or the airline their policy before making reservation.

2006: TORINO CASELLE AIRPORT

BREAKS NEW PASSENGER RECORD.

A total of 3,260,974 passengers, an all-time record for Torino Caselle airport, more than 112 thousand in relation to 2005.

6.9% upswing in flights.

A 7.9% decline in charter passengers offset by strong growth of 26.8% in General Aviation passengers.

Excellent results achieved by new low-cost flights activated in recent weeks

(load factor of 80%).

Caselle T.se, January 15 2007 – A new record for Torino Caselle airport. In 2006, passengers totalled 3,260,974, a year-over-year increase of 3.6%. Flights moved from 56,890 in 2005 to 60,838 in 2006 with an increase of 6.9%.

National flights carried 1,726,531 passengers, 1.6% higher than in 2005, while international flights achieved an increase of 7.4%, with 1,214,213 passengers. Traffic to Rome, with 863,360 passengers, increased by 6.4% in relation to 2005. The good performance of other national destinations, in particular Pescara (+27.8%) and Trapani (+24.6%) is worth noting.

Direct traffic towards European hubs moved up 11.5% from 664,839 passengers in 2005 to 741,268 in 2006. In particular, opening of Air One’s new link to Paris, alongside Air France’s historic service, contributed to forging the 11.3% upswing in passengers to this destination. Thanks to the three airports connected from Torino Caselle (Gatwick, Stansted and Luton), London reconfirmed its position as foreign destination with the highest traffic, with 270 thousand passengers.

New, major destinations were opened during year just ended. From May 28, Royal Air Maroc has transported more than 8 thousand passengers to and from Casablanca while, in March 2006, Sky Europe started to operate a new flight three times a week to Kracow (with around 21 thousand passengers transported) and from December 26, a twice-weekly flight to Prague (431 passengers transported on the first two flights).

In their first weeks of operation, Ryanair flights to Dublin and Brussels Charleroi achieved excellent results with a load factors of 80%.

Charter traffic accounted for almost 263 thousand passengers with, however, an all-round decrease of 7.9% in relation to 2005 due to reduced scheduling of snow flights by European tour operators in the period of the Winter Olympics.

Lastly, the General Aviation sector (air taxis, tourist and business flights) achieved an increase of 26.8%, also stimulated by the up-to-date facilities and services provided by the new dedicated terminal constructed for the Torino 2006 Winter Olympics.
