Disabled parking bays are available in all car parks. A courtesy coach is provided to take all customers from the long term car park and the step from the bus automatically lowers to the height of the pavement to enable easy access for those using wheelchairs. The coach drops customers off immediately outside of the terminal. A pre-booking discount applies for booking at least 48 hours in advance. Bookings should be made on +44 (0) 191 2144026 or online.

Customers that require assistance should then present a special assistance transit form to the staff on the Information Desk. The desk has a lowered section for ease of communication.

They will help customers through security search and onto the aircraft and also on their return to Newcastle International Airport.
To assist the airline handling agents and the airport team you are advised to contact the airline or tour operator you are traveling with to inform them of any special assistance at least 48 hours before arriving at the airport and ideally at the time of booking.
Those customers who require special assistance but not wheelchair assistance should be aware that this is the responsibility of the airline handling agents and that any requests for assistance should be booked in advance. This should be further communicated when checking-in.
Wheelchairs and specialist vehicles for easy access to aircraft are available on request and are free of charge. There are limited spaces in these vehicles and only one helper can travel on the cabin lift (children are exempt).

Newcastle International Airport has become the first regional airport in the UK to install common-use self-service kiosks in the terminal, allowing passengers to check themselves in without the need to queue at a conventional check-in desk.
05 July 2006
Newcastle International Airport has become the first regional airport in the UK to install common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks, allowing passengers flying with one of several Newcastle-based airlines to check-in, choose their seat and print their own boarding pass quickly and easily without the need to queue at a conventional check-in desk.
With over 20,000 people using the airport each day during the peak Summer period to fly to and from 86 different destinations, the self-service kiosks will significantly shorten check-in times, cut queues and mean less stress for passengers and more time for shopping and relaxing before take-off.
British Airways have successfully operated their own self-service kiosks at Newcastle Airport for a number of years, but common use kiosks – which will, in the future, enable any passenger flying with any airline to check themselves in electronically – are a new development in the industry.
Passengers who choose to check-in using one of the new kiosks can then head straight to the Departure Lounge. This is particularly advantageous for passengers with hand luggage only. Passengers with hold luggage can still bypass the traditional check-in queue at the airport, using new dedicated fast baggage drop facilities located nearby.
To begin with, Newcastle Airport will have ten CUSS kiosks for use by KLM passengers during an initial trial period, with the facility being rolled out to other airlines over the coming weeks.
If the success of British Airways’ self service check-in kiosks is anything to go by, the new kiosks look set to be a great success. A recent survey conducted by the BA showed that a far greater proportion of their passengers flying from Newcastle Airport used self-service check-in facilities than at any of the airline’s other regional airport bases in the UK.
